How employers engage
How postings say the person will be engaged, as stated by the employer.
| Arrangement | Postings | What the employer says |
|---|---|---|
| Direct employee | 1,340 | The employer says it will withhold CPP and EI and issue you a T4. |
| Independent contractor | 0 | The employer says it will pay gross against an invoice, with no deductions withheld. Whether you are in fact self-employed is decided by the substance of the working relationship, not by this label — a CRA ruling can find otherwise, and either party can request one. |
| Employer of record | 0 | The employer says a third-party employer of record will employ you and run payroll, so deductions and statutory entitlements come from that provider. |

Month by month
The series below keeps one row per month, newest first. A month’s row is filed at the first build of that month, so it describes the board as it stood then.
| Month | Postings | Employers | Fully remote | % stating pay | Median midpoint |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | 1,353 | 65 | 754 | 53.4% | $171,000 |
How we count
- Published: a posting that is live on the board, open to people living in Canada, and past any embargo.
- Remote versus hybrid: read from the employer’s own remote flag and the posting’s location text, with one override — a title naming an on-site trade (a plumber, a cook, a cleaner) is never counted as remote, whatever the flag says.
- Pay stated: the posting gives either a minimum or a maximum, in its structured pay data or its text.
- Median: taken over postings with an annual range in Canadian dollars only, using the midpoint of each range; it is withheld when there are fewer than ten such ranges.
- Province reach: a posting counts for a province when it names that province or is open Canada-wide, so one posting can count in several.
- Exclusions: test postings, postings still under embargo, and expired or unpublished postings.
